Internship Overview: You’ll be working for one of Minnesota’s most historic communities, the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community. We focus on inspiring possibilities, fostering meaningful connections, and upholding our longstanding Dakota values while creating memorable experiences!

You’ll be the perfect fit if: You are detail-oriented and well-organized. You have the foundational knowledge to handle collections pieces in a museum environment. Hoċokata Ṫi, our cultural center is a key place of gathering for community engagement and tells the history of Dakota people. As an intern, you will get firsthand exposure to further your understanding of collections management in a tribally run museum with the highest standard of care. You will get the opportunity to work on intakes, provenance research, handling of pieces, and exhibit development. Internship Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program pertinent to the department/team to which assigned.
  • Basic level skills in word-processing, spreadsheets, or other tools standard to the department/team to which assigned.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others in a collaborative, team environment.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
