Traditional SMSC Winter Wacipi

The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community invites you to the Traditional SMSC Winter Wacipi, February 7-8, at Hoċokata Ṫi.

Don’t miss the dancers, drums, and singers inside the Place of Gathering and make sure to check out the various vendors on-site as well as the competitive and entertaining moccasin games tournament.

Please note this event is a traditional wacipi with no payouts by the SMSC. A number of dances, along with the moccasin games tournament, have graciously been sponsored by SMSC members.

The Traditional SMSC Winter Wacipi is open to the public with free admission. There will not be a livestream for this year’s event.

Grand Entries

Friday: 7pm

Saturday: 1pm and 7pm

Friday: Registration from 5-7pm, Games begin at 7pm

Saturday: Games resume at 9am

The SMSC bans guns on all properties, including Hoċokata Ṫi. Use and possession of illegal drugs, alcohol, cannabis, or cannabis products is also strictly prohibited. Any person who appears to be under the influence of any such substance will be asked to leave the venue and immediately escorted off property. Lawn chairs are not permitted at the Traditional SMSC Winter Wacipi.
